Entwined love is passion and loving emotion on a canvas. This painting is predominantly black and white with a subtle addition of bright delicate blues. The dark, almost black, background enriches the focus on the man and woman and their gentle loving embrace. The twisting, entwining plant surrounding them almost as though it is pulling them closer and its sharp thorns adding a darkness to the composition.
This painting is a beautiful example of love and passion between man and woman and how with that focused love comes an entertwining mix of emotions with very little control. It captures the beauty and the beast of a passionate relationship. The strong winding thorny growth with such delicate and simple flowers, within the background, intensifies this. You can alsmost feel the emotions in our heart while observing this painting.
ARTIST STATEMENT: “I have always loved figurative paintings/artwork. I admired the work of Edgar Degas with his ballerina compositions. The softness and subtlety in the application of paint conjuring the gentle and graceful movements of the dancers.
To capture such strong emotions within a painting is an absolute achievement. My inspiration for this painting was myself. I am sure many, if not all of us, have fallen at the hand of love and the uncontrolable emotions we experience. At the time of producing this painting, i had recently separated from my husband. And not long after, through no intent, i had met another man and my emotions were in real turmoil. I had the deep and painful hurt of betrayal from my previous relationship and this fresh exciting, almost butterflies in the stomach, kind of emotions with another relationship. But with love and passion come angst and caution. Love can be beautiful but it can also be unkind and painful.”
