A few tips for choosing your commisioned piece
To bring a portrait to life, is to capture the detail and delicate variations on tone and colour. So it is important that your image is clear and crisp. Here are a few tips.
- Natural daylight is your best option for taking photos. So if you can take the photo on a clear day, not overly sunny and in good light.
- The pose is also a factor to consider. Try and come down to eye level of the subject as this will give a good head on pose.
- It is always advised to send the photo via email, un edited so the resolution and quality are high.
- Mobile phone cameras are pretty advanced these days so you’ll probably be able to capture a good image but check out the best settings for a portrait photo. Most cameras these days have advanced settings rather than using the default/auto settings.
Bellow are a few examples. Naturally these are just guidelines. Ultimately, it is your choice, you may have a pose that you love because is expresses the character of the subject well. In order to do the piece justice, I require good quality photos and reserve the right to reject any I deem unsuitable. I will do my best to work with you.
Time scale
It is always very difficult to put a timescale on a piece of art work. There are so many factors to take into concideration.
The type of medium
The size of the art work
How many subjects within the commissioned piece
Whether you have opted for our framing service
and of course, the quality of the images provided
At the time of discussion, a rough timescale is usually given which is worked out based on the above key factors. Throughout the process, I will keep in touch with you using the email address you provide at the time of ordering. Progress images will be shared with you, in order to assure you are happy with the commission. I always aim to complete the art work within the timescale, however I ask that you are a little flexible on this. Quality is the important factor.
